Our Volunteer Counselors are a cherished part of the Family Camp community at Camp Koinonia.
Counselors have two main jobs: to serve the families of Koinonia and to serve the kids of Koinonia.
Being part of the Family Camp staff is a life-changing experience. Counselors find lifelong friends at Koinonia. We thank God for our wonderful Counselors!
Things you will need to fill out your Counselor Application:
-Your health insurance and medication information
-The email addresses or phone numbers of two references
-Your summer availability

Service to Families: Each Counselor is assigned to a family for the week. Counselors will experience camp with his or her “camp family,” sitting with them at Mass and meals, participating with them in skits, and getting to know each individual member of the family. Counselors assist the family by helping them get situated at camp and introducing them to all the great camp traditions such as hikes to the falls, campfire songs and surprise KKs (Kris Kringles).

Service to Kids: Every morning in between morning prayer and lunch, campers are split up into age-appropriate morning groups. Each Counselor is assigned to work with a particular age group. As group leaders, counselors read Bible stories, assist with making crafts, lead spiritual discussions and play games with the kids in their group.

The Counselor Experience: Being part of the Family Camp staff is a life-changing experience. As a counselor you will start the week on Saturday getting to know one another and participate in training to prepare for the days ahead. You will have the opportunity to engage in staff sharing, which is a time to deepen your spiritual connection and to bond with fellow staff. You will receive support and leadership development from Program Staff and Spiritual Directors. Finally, on Thursdays, you will finish the week with fun-filled games and activities.
Perks: Counselors find lifelong friends at Koinonia. Counselors are eligible to receive documented service hours for their week at Family Camp. Counselors enjoy all the fun activities we have to offer at Camp, including such things as swimming, line dancing, arts and crafts, ping-pong and hikes to the Falls. Most importantly, Counselors make a huge impact on the families and kids they serve. We thank God for our wonderful Counselors!
